Amos B. Tweh, MD

Amos B. Tweh is a dedicated public servant and accomplished leader committed to enhancing institutions and driving national progress. As the Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), he is focused on improving the company’s operational efficiency, strengthening transparency and compliance, and positioning LPRC as a forward-thinking energy institution.
Before assuming his current role, Mr. Tweh held several key leadership positions within LPRC, including Manager of Compliance and Policy, as well as Manager of Projects, Planning, and Policy. He successfully led internal reforms, facilitated strategic planning initiatives, enhanced regulatory compliance, and championed major project implementations that significantly improved accountability and operational performance across the organization.
Mr. Tweh’s experience in public service also encompasses important roles as Deputy Minister and Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In these positions, he played a crucial role in advancing urban development programs, promoting decentralization, and implementing local governance reforms throughout Liberia. Earlier in his career, he contributed to national policy development and civil society engagement initiatives while working with the Governance Commission.
In addition to his government work, Mr. Tweh has served as a consultant and lead researcher on various governance and legislative modernization projects, including the Africa Integrity Indicators research and providing advisory support to the Liberian Legislature.
He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Project Planning and Management (with Commendation) from Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Public Policy from African Methodist Episcopal University. He has further enhanced his expertise through postgraduate studies in Renewable Rural Energy in China and Fiscal Decentralization & Financial Management at Duke University in the United States.
